In a move that blends compassion with cocktail culture, Tito’s Handmade Vodka — known affectionately as “vodka for dog people” — has again turned its spirit into a force for good. This Valentine’s Day, the Austin-born brand launched a dollar-for-dollar matching campaign, pledging up to $45,000 to help the Voorhees Animal Orphanage (VAO) in New Jersey. By the end of February, the campaign had successfully raised $90,000, doubling community support for animals in need.
From February 14 through February 28, Tito’s matched every donation—every heartfelt Valentine—doubling its impact. The funds are earmarked for critical kennel supplies, veterinary care, prescription diets, vaccines, microchips, dog beds, and high-grade disinfectants that ensure the shelters’ environment stays safe and clean.
The shelter is a quiet epicenter of recovery and renewal. Since its founding in 1988, VAO has rescued over 42,000 animals. In 2024 alone, more than 2,300 animals passed through its doors.
In early reports, VAO introduced a survivor among survivors: Holly Berry, a one-year-old dog who arrived at the orphanage severely underweight and emotionally guarded. Under staff care, she rebounded—gaining 40 pounds and rediscovering trust in human hands. The matching campaign’s proceeds will help others like her, readying pets for their journey to forever homes.
A Continued Pledge to Animal Welfare

The campaign reflects an ongoing commitment by Tito’s. The company’s Vodka for Dog People initiative amplifies support for animal-focused nonprofits, especially those offering low-cost spay/neuter and affordable veterinary services. This program is embedded in the company’s DNA, reflecting the founder’s own affinity for dogs and grassroots ethos.
Victoria Lewis, Field Sales Manager at Tito’s, emphasized the sincerity behind the effort:
“Through our Vodka for Dog People program, we are committed to empowering animal‑focused nonprofits that are creating lasting, positive change in our communities.”
On the orphanage side, Jen Bailey, VAO’s Marketing Director, expressed gratitude:
“Tito’s contribution will help save more of the animals that walk through our doors… covering the cost of spay/neuter for our shelter pets.”
For those moved by the campaign, VAO continues to welcome donations past the campaign’s end. Contributions go toward general care, medical needs, and long-term sustainability of the shelter. Details can be found at the VAO website’s donation page.
In a world where brand storytelling sometimes feels hollow, Tito’s work with VAO stands out—not for its PR polish, but for its real-world impact on animals’ lives. And when a bottle of vodka becomes a lifeline for creatures like Holly Berry, it’s not just charity—it’s transformation.
